Overview
I take the protection of your personal data seriously. This website works without cookies, tracking or analytics services, and it can be used without providing any personal data. Only when you write to me via the contact form or by email do I process the data you give me in doing so. This page explains which data is nevertheless processed for technical reasons when you visit.

Hosting and server log files
When you access this website, the hosting provider automatically collects information in so-called server log files that your browser transmits:
- browser type and version
- operating system used
- referrer URL
- IP address or hostname of the accessing device
- time of the server request
This data is not merged with other data sources. Processing is based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; my legitimate interest lies in the secure and stable operation of the website. I reserve the right to review the log files retrospectively if there is concrete evidence of unlawful use.
Cookies and local storage
This website does not set any cookies. Only your choice between light and dark mode is stored in your browser's local storage once you switch the theme manually. This entry contains no personal data, never leaves your device and is technically necessary to display the site the way you asked for it (§ 25 (2) no. 2 of the German TDDDG). You can delete it at any time via your browser settings.
Contact form and email
If you write to me via the contact form or by email, I store your message including the contact details it contains in order to process your request and to handle follow-up questions. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where the request relates to initiating or performing a contract, and Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR otherwise. I do not pass this data on without your consent and delete it once your request has been fully dealt with and no statutory retention periods apply.
Please note that data transmission over the internet, for example by email, may have security gaps. Complete protection against access by third parties is not possible.
Spam protection with Cloudflare Turnstile
The contact form is protected against automated submissions by Cloudflare Turnstile. The provider is Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Turnstile uses characteristics of your browser to check whether a request comes from a human. In the process, technical data such as your IP address and browser information is transmitted to Cloudflare. The script is only loaded on the home page, where the form is located.
The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; my legitimate interest lies in protecting the form against spam and abuse. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Further information is available in Cloudflare's privacy policy.
External links
This website links to external sites such as mc4sw.com. When you follow such a link, the privacy policy of the respective provider applies. Apart from the spam protection mentioned above, no third-party content is embedded in this website.
Encryption
For security reasons, this website uses TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the "https://" prefix in your browser's address bar.
Your rights
With regard to your personal data, you have the following rights towards me:
- access to the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
- rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
- erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
- restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
- objection to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR)
To exercise these rights, an email to hallo@torben.me is sufficient. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for me is the Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
